Job Title: Kitchen Worker & Food Server in a market cafe serving British & Thai food
Department: Food & Beverage
Reports To: Cafe & Kitchen Managers
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Position Summary

The Kitchen Worker & Food Server plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of the cafe by supporting both kitchen and front-of-house activities. This hybrid position is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on in both food preparation and delivering excellent customer service. You will assist in kitchen tasks while also providing friendly, professional service to guests at the table.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Worker Duties:

• Assist in food preparation tasks such as washing ingredients

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen workspaces, equipment, and utensils

• Wash dishes, pots, and pans, and ensure they are returned to the kitchen in an orderly manner

• Dispose of waste and keep the kitchen clean and organized

• Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines

• Assist cooks and chefs during meal preparation and service times

Food Server Duties:

• Greet guests in a friendly and approachable manner

• Deliver food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently

• Ensure guests are satisfied with their meals and respond to any special requests

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, including setting up and clearing tables

• Ensure all food is presented according to cafe standards and served at the right temperature

• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure orders are completed correctly and in a timely manner

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a kitchen or food service role is an asset

• Knowledge of food safety standards and basic kitchen operations preferred

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to multitask and remain organized under pressure

• Friendly and approachable with a positive attitude

• Must be able to work flexible hours, including Saturdays and holidays

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

• Ability to lift and carry trays of food

• Ability to work in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment

• Must be able to bend, twist, and reach when needed
